Greetings,

To all of the 2017 Parkinson Half Marathon and 5K event participants, volunteers and sponsors – “THANK YOU” on behalf of our family committee for making this event once again a huge success on such a wonderful day.  We had over 1,500 people attending the event and as a result we will be sending ~$65,000 to the APDA – WI Chapter.

The Parkinson’s Half Marathon and 5K event funding supports the APDA – WI Chapter, but the event means so much more.  The event is built on a foundation of family and friends love and fellowship, all coming together to make a difference.

There are so many examples of inspiration and love that make this event so rewarding.  Each year the event has shown this time and time again.  Every family and friend hour is volunteered, each coming with love and fellowship.

We are humbled, blessed, honored and grateful for your involvement in the event in your own way.  From all the families and friends who live with the disease on a daily basis, we say “THANK YOU” with all our hearts!

Bob (Roth) you will be forever missed and never forgotten!  To all of you who may have lost a loved one to this disease, our thoughts are with you.

We look forward to 2018 and all our best to you and your loved ones!

LATE REGISTRATION

We are officially 100 % full for this years event. There will no longer be any late registration ( race day or at packet pick up). We have had a large amount of people register within the last two days and we unfortunately have to close registration for this year.

Race Info

Dear Runners,

Saturday is right around the corner.  We wanted to update you on a couple things:

  1. Online registration ends Wednesday March 30 at midnight.  Registration will re-open (paper only) on Friday night and Saturday morning.
  2. Packet pick up is Friday from 4-7pm at the Cottage Grove Town Hall.  Saturday (Race Day) packet pick up is at 1855 Saloon and Grill from 6:30am until race time.
  3. New this year… We will have volunteers stationed at the start line with signs for lining up according to your pace.  Please do your best to estimate how much time you will need to complete the course and line up appropriately.  NOTE: These are NOT Pacers.  They are only intended to get you started roughly around the same pace as the other people around you.
  4. Donations can be turned in on both Friday and Saturday at Packet Pick Up and credit will be awarded to you based on your donation level.  You may use this credit toward apparel options.
  5. The kids run will take off immediately after the start of the half marathon in order to get it done before the start of the 5k.  Please start staging kids around the same time the half marathoners are lining up.  There are two options this year.  Make sure your child knows which one they are participating in.  The shorter race is geared toward pre-elementary while the long course is more elementary age.
  6. We will have the “In Honor of…” and “In Memory of…” banners present at packet pick up.  If you would rather we put down your heroes name please email me at everstrongevents@gmail.com
  7. Shuttles will run from all parking lots please take advantage of this and use the designated lots.
  8. If you are picking up more than 5 peoples packets at packet pick up please email me with names.  everstrongevents@gmail.com

Participant Information

Hello Runners!  Race day is less than 2 weeks away.  Please read through the following information so you know what to expect on the day of the event.

Packet pick up:

Pre-registered racers can pick up their bib numbers and technical long sleeve shirt on Friday March 31st from 4-7pm at Cottage Grove Town Hall (4058 County Road N Cottage Grove WI 53527) or on Saturday April 1 from 6:30am until the start of race at 1855 Saloon and Grill (218 S. Main St. Cottage Grove, WI 53527) ***If you plan to pick up more than just your packet (5 or more) please email us ahead of time with the names of all of the runners you will be picking up for.  We will pull all of your bibs, chips and t-shirts to make pick up go as quickly as possible for you and other participants.  Please make sure you have communicated with any participant that you plan to pick up their packet so we do not confuse any of the volunteers or runners.  Please tell the volunteer at the table you emailed us.  

 

Team Captain Packet Pick Up:

If you are a team captain and you plan to pick up bibs for your team we are asking that you email us in advance to have time to pull all of your bibs, chips and t-shirts ahead of time.  Please email me at everstrongevents@gmail.com and give me your name, your team name and a list of the people you will be picking up packets for.  You will receive a confirmation email with a pick up code. Please indicate to our volunteers you are a team captain picking up multiple packets.

 

Registration Information:

Online registration will close on Wednesday March 29th at 11:59pm. Registration will reopen on Friday March 31st and Saturday April 1 (Race Day) at Packet Pick Up as long as we do not sell out (walker numbers are unlimited and you will be able to register for the walk on race day). Prices will increase for Friday and Saturday registration.  Paper registration must be postmarked by 3/24.  Kids will be able to register on both Friday and Saturday for the kids run.  Registration for the kids run is free but a waiver must be signed before they will be allowed to participate.  

Late registration prices are as follows:

Half Marathon $65.00

5k $ 45.00

1-Mile Walk $25.00

Kids Run – Free
Race Times:

8:00 am Half marathon starts

8:05 Start of Kids run

8:30 am 5K starts

1-mile walk to follow the 5k
Courses will close at 12:00pm, no finish times will be provided after the course closes.

Cold Weather Bag drop:

A bag drop will be provided for runners to leave their cold weather clothing while running. Before the race begins runners can put their bib number on a bag. We will put the bags into bins and hold your items while you race. After the race you can pick up your gear near the finish line.  We are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items.

 

Donation turn in:

Runners that collected donations can turn in their cash and checks on both Friday (31st) and Saturday (1st). Runners should print off the donation collection recording sheet from the website and fill out any offline and online donations (click here for collection form). Runners that collect donations can earn credit toward our apparel options. There will be a wide variety of items available at packet pick up and race day.  The following are the donation levels:

Parking:

We have contacted numerous businesses in Cottage Grove that have allowed racers to park. Parking will be will on a first come first serve basis in these parking lots and on local city streets.  There is a map available on our website (click here for parking info)

 

Please note there will not be street parking available along the east side of Main Street due to our race route. At the bottom of this document you will find a map of the available parking lots for racers. Please note 2 of the lots are reserved for our participants with disabilities. A shuttle bus will be running throughout the morning taking racers from the parking lots to the start/finish area. The shuttle will run continuously between these lots. Look for a volunteer or a sign at the pick up locations. Please remember we have a lot of racers at the event and try to park in a way that maximizes the amount of cars we can get in each lot. Please be courteous to local residents and businesses in the area. Available parking lots are: The Cottage Grove Town Hall,Bryn Mawr Church Parking lot, St. Patrick’s Church (both sides of Hwy N), Cottage Grove School, Cottage Grove Police and Fireman’s Park. 119 S. Main St. and Reynolds St. will be available for handicap parking.  Please leave the volunteer parking lot open for our volunteers so they can get where they need to be in a timely manner.  Without them this event would not be possible.

 

Course Information:

All the events will start in the parking lot of the Glacial Drumlin trail and head out onto Hwy N before turning into a nearby residential area and eventually meeting up with the trail.  Due to the limited width of the race course we ask that you please do NOT walk more than 2 across.  Runners approaching from behind you will have a hard time moving through race traffic if runners and walkers are blocking the path.  5k runners and walkers need to be attentive to half marathoners approaching from behind them on the path.

 

Shuttle Bus:

A shuttle bus will run continuously between the available parking lots. There will be a volunteer or sign at each shuttle bus pick up location. The bus will run from 6:00am until 12:00pm along Hwy N. The shuttle bus will pick up near St. Patrick’s Church, the Cottage Grove School, Cottage Grove Town Hall and near the Glacial Drumlin Trail Head parking lot (start/finish area).

 

Post Race Celebration:

Following the 5K there will be a post race celebration for all runners. Pizza, Pork Sandwiches, beer and other goodies will be provided.  If you know any bakers please encourage them to make some sweet treats to share.  You can drop these off at packet pick up on at the food tables on race day.

 

Awards:

There will be no official award ceremony.  The awards will be available for pick up at the awards table near the finish line after the official results have been posted.

 

All 5k and Half Marathon finishers will receive a finisher medal.

 

Half Marathon Awards: Top 3 overall male and female, Top 3 finishers (male and female) in each age division.  19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

(top 3 will be excluded from age group awards).

5K Awards: Top 3 overall male and female, Top 3 finishers (male and female) in each age division.  10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

(top 3 will be excluded from age group awards).

 

Results: Results will be posted near the finish line and again on onlineraceresults.com

Road Crossings:

The race is an open course which means there are no road closures during the race and runners must be aware of traffic at all times.

 

Weather policy:

The event will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather the race director has the right to delay and/or cancel the event with no refunds.

 

T-Shirts:

If you are unhappy about the size t-shirt you ordered you will NOT be able to make any exchanges prior to the start of the event.  Following the race you can check in with us and see if we have any extras.
